Yeah, Maine kinda does that to you at first (speaking from a fellow transplant's experience). It sucks the one that you DID have before you came here - which no longer fits with ANYTHING around you - and strips you down to your bare soul, like finding the good hardwood under layers of old stain and peeling varnish...only to be reborn with a shining, new surface. The same fine raw materials, but with a different finish. A different perspective. A newer, cleaner you. :)
(And yes, I realize you wrote this post almost 4 years ago, but isn't it great to re-read stuff from way back? Perspective is a wonderful thing.)
